Railway Noise Calculation with D-noise

Sound Propagation According to SEMIBEL or ISO9613-2

sonRAIL

For the calculation of railway noise

Based on the sonRAIL multi-source model and different sound propagation models, precise calculations of railway noise situations can be carried out and the influence of noise protection measures at the source and on the propagation path can be simulated.

The sonRAIL calculation model was developed on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) by Empa’s Laboratory for Acoustics / Noise Control and implemented in the D-noise solution by n-Sphere.

The sonRAIL emission model can be used to model emissions from locomotives, coaches and freight wagons, taking into account their individual type, the superstructure and rail properties, as well as the rail condition. For the sound propagation, two different methods are implemented: SEMIBEL, using a line source at a height on 0.5 m and ISO9613-2 using five line sources at five different source heights as defined in sonRAIL for further sound propagation.
