Shooting Noise with sonARMS
For Existing and Planned Shooting Ranges
sonARMS
For the calculation of shooting noise
Based on the sonARMS shooting noise model and the sonX sound propagation model, shooting noise calculations can be simulated for different weapon categories, taking into account the geographical and meteorological conditions.
The sonARMS calculation model was developed on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) by the Empa’s Laboratory for Acoustics / Noise Control in collaboration with Merz Technik and implemented as standalone add-in – based on D-noise – by n-Sphere.
The sonARMS emission model describes muzzle blasts, projectile blasts and detonations as a function of the weapon category and allows calculations in accordance with Annexes 7 and 9 of the Swiss Noise Abatement Ordinance.
