Relaxations

Collect and Manage Relaxations

Tool for managing relaxations

The Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and the Federal Noise Abatement Ordinance (NAO) oblige cities and cantons to reduce noise pollution on road sections with excessive noise levels. If the sound exposure limit values remain exceeded despite the measures taken or if further measures are disproportionate, the road owner is granted remediation relaxations and so-called relaxation levels are defined for each building.

However, the obligation to carry out remediation work remains in force, and noise remediation is a permanent task. In the event of significant changes to road installations (e.g. road construction projects) and other construction or traffic measures that significantly change noise levels, noise remediation must be carried out repeatedly and the relaxation levels must be updated.

The Tool for managing relaxations enables simple and clear management of the relaxations granted and changes over time. This allows you to maintain an overview in your city or canton and to find your way around quickly and geo-based.

Functionalities of the tool:

  • Central storage of data from remediation projects
  • Historicization of relaxation levels when updated
  • Retention of information on abolished relaxations
  • Comparability with different states of the noise pollution register
  • Identification of limit value exceedances without relaxations
  • Identification of buildings for which the relaxations imposed have been exceeded for one or more noise pollution registers
  • Interfaces for importing and exporting information on relaxations and the required basic data
  • Import of noise levels from noise pollution registers
  • Functionality for searching for addresses/EGIDs
  • Functionality for filtering and exporting relaxations
